Description

Alice Alexander is a new women’s clothing startup. We’re a ready-to-wear, size-inclusive ethically-made clothing company. Each piece is designed, cut and sewn in Philadelphia. In May 2018 we plan to move into a combined production/ retail space in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia and expand our operation. This space will allow us to welcome customers into the process of how we make our clothes, ensuring transparency in our products.

We’re seeking an intern to help with a variety of tasks. This is an awesome, entry-level opportunity for an individual seeking a truly unique professional experience in a lifestyle/ clothing/ fashion startup. This is NOT a typical fashion job—candidates from a variety of backgrounds are welcome to apply!



Tasks and Duties:
-Social Media (Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest), posting to social media and building an engaged audience in our target market
-Researching and identifying influencers who align with the brand and developing collaborative, mutually benefiting opportunities between the company and influencers
-Assist with the clothing production process, brainstorm new ideas to create efficiencies in production
-Assist with pattern drafting. Adjusting patterns. Cutting patterns and preparing for manufacturing.
-Research fabrics, connecting with fabric suppliers comparing price and quality.
-Assist with customer service inquiries, answer customer questions and help them find answers
-Assist with packing and shipping.
-Identify local artisans and makers of jewelry, handbags, accessories, home goods, etc. to be featured in the shop. Secure wholesale information, line sheets and samples from these potential partners.

Requirements

Candidates must have sincere interest in:
-size-inclusive fashion and the body positive movement
-slow fashion
-sewing and DIY
-feminism

Qualifications:
-high school graduate
-enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably going into Junior or Senior year of college
-1-2 years experience in clothing production, fashion, sewing or related field (this can be personal experience and/ or professional experience).
-customer service experience (retail preferred)
-beginner sewing skills and sewing knowledge- this position does not require production level sewing skills but there must be sewing knowledge that can be applied to various tasks. Sewing education/ training will be provided for the right candidate.
-awesome attitude, positive and upbeat. Candidate must be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and have an attitude that no challenge is insurmountable.
-sense of humor, takes their work seriously, but not themselves seriously.
