program (“Character Does Matter” or CDM), Veteran Transition Workshops and regional service projects within the Northeast Region. The PA will build relationships with the schools, teachers, coaches, and students who participate in the CDM program. The PA will also coordinate events (school presentations, service projects, and Veteran Transition Workshops) that help connect our Veteran and civilian communities in positive ways. The Program Coordinator will provide the Program Manager all required logistical and administrative support.
Through CDM, the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) connects the heroes of today—veterans, active duty personnel, and families of the fallen—with students, the leaders of tomorrow.
Working with schools, teams and organizations throughout the country, Veterans volunteer as Travis Manion Foundation Ambassadors. Ambassadors inspire youth character development through speaking engagements, youth mentorship, and service learning.
Veterans also receive personal and professional development through TMF’s Veteran Transition Workshops.
This position operates from Travis Manion Foundation’s Philadelphia office and will consist of 10-15 hours per week total for the 15 week semester. 10 hours per week will be in the Philadelphia office, and approximately 5 hours per week will be facilitating programs run by Youth Mentors at schools and youth groups in/around Philadelphia. Internship hours are flexible based on class and work schedules, and will be decided upon at the start of the internship.
Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in human services, education, communications, or a related field with a strong interest in non-profit management, communications or related area
Must be receiving college credit for this internship from home institution, TMF can work with you to draft an internship plan that meets your programs criteria for internship credit
Some knowledge of Veteran Service Organizations and a strong desire to work in the community
Connection to and basic understanding of the military and veteran community preferred
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
Self-starter with excellent organizational and customer service-skills; must be self-reliant and initiative-driven, while still being an effective and collaborative team member
Excellent and persuasive communicator with exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills
Energetic, flexible, and proactive with dedication to the mission of the Travis Manion Foundation and a passion for service and community development
