Position Overview: The Management of Camper Programs Intern is a strong culture and relationship builder who actively engages and builds relationships with The Handwork team, ensuring that each program retains program integrity by meeting its stated mission and goals. S/he will work closely with the Director of Curriculum, Site Director and other department leaders to work on summer planning and immediate responses to ensure the quality of programs and the experience of participants.
Camp life moves very quickly. The Management of Camper Programs Intern can expect to be faced with a variety of complex situations simultaneously and must prioritize based on importance and urgency.
Develop meaningful relationships with the sites and team to ensure a high level of trust and engagement.
Provide on-call and on-site assistance to resolve a variety of issues while campers are on location
Create a team evaluation and feedback form for implementation.
Serve as backup to the site director and HWS team who oversees program logistics and the safety and security of camper participants.
Observe and review curriculum implementation in the camp program for consistency
Have completed 2 years of college education preferably in the area of management, business or entrepreneurship
Some experience in a school, camp, or other educational setting would be preferred but not required.
Some experience in a management position preferred but not required.
Eligible for college credit for internship.
Willingness to submit to a criminal background screening and professional reference check
Hours will meet the requirements of the internship
Must be available in person in Washington D.C. or Philadelphia.
