The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) is an internationally renowned institution that trains young artists as opera soloists. We are seeking a part-time intern to assist the Marketing/PR Department with the development and execution of the individual show and season marketing plans and the communications plan for the institution. Skills and experience with social media, graphic design and Wordpress are a plus.
Responsibilities may include: design of posters and other print materials; layout of program books; collateral distribution; public relations support; help maintain and keep consistent the visual identity of AVA in both print and web materials, collaboration with other departments; audience research, management of mailings, data entry, copy-editing, press clippings, social media, photo-editing, and staffing at community and special events.
The ideal candidate will be personable, diplomatic, detail-oriented with strong writing skills; a self-starter who is able to work independently, but also contribute as a member of a team; computer savvy; and a quick learner who easily adapts to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment. Preferred candidates will have academic backgrounds in Marketing and Communications, Graphic Design, English, or Arts Administration, and have a demonstrable interest in the nonprofit sector.
