Spring 2020 Internship

Description

• Review incoming complaints and relevant documentation; prepare complaint summary, make note of any violations, discrepancies
• Follow-up with consumers and business entities
• Research database for complaint history, prior investigation and/or legal action, warning letters
• Research companies on the internet; review the business’ website
• Create spreadsheets for investigations or legal actions
• Review and familiarization of relevant case laws such as Unfair Trade Practice & Consumer Protection Laws, Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, Automotive Industry Trade Practices, Health Club Act, Dog Purchaser Protection Act, Credit Services Act, Towing & Towing Storage Facility Standard Act, Landlord – Tenant Act, Federal Debt Collection Practices Act, Goods & Services Installment Act, Telemarketer Registration Act, just to name a few.
• Draft referrals to investigations
• Draft investigative reports
• Accompany Agents on outreach events
• Attend Administrative Hearings
• Attend court proceedings

Requirements

• Must be enrolled and in good standing with an accredited college or university;
• Strong research and writing skills;
